Madeleine Rose Witney is a masterful storyteller, moving from traditional standards to her own compositions. Taking you on a seamless journey though soulful blues, the swing of the jazz era, to more contemporary sounds. A woman with a voice like velvet who takes her every experience, wraps it in song and leads the audience through her lyrical and cinematic world; emulating the Golden Age. 

 

Finding her voice as a young woman thanks to the sounds of jazz legends from the 1930s to the 1950s, such as Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O'Day and Julie London. Inspired by the techniques of these songstresses of yesteryear, Madeleine’s live performances are vintage inspired but modern, relevant, sometimes outré and always designed to engage and provoke.

 

Madeleine’s unique talent is gauging atmospheres. Tailoring her performances to move from soft subtle jazz vocals floating through the air to vibrant performances, getting everyone on their feet! Supported by London’s greatest Jazz musicians, often championing female talent.

 

Madeleine Rose Witney has already built a solid foundation of followers thanks to her performances at high-profile venues in London: The Royal Albert Hall, The Roundhouse, The Victoria and Albert Museum and her two SOLD OUT shows at The Jazz Cafe. Her previous residences include The Groucho Club, Kimpton Fitzroy, Nightjar, Adam Street Private Members Club, Bloomsbury Bar, Primo, Oriole and Novikov.
